Sam Donaldson to chair philanthropic arm of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network

The NCCN 15th Annual Conference: Clinical Practice Guidelines & Quality Cancer Care got underway this past week by naming longtime ABC news anchor (and cancer survivor) Sam Donaldson to the Chair of the Board of Directors for the newly established NCCN Foundation.

The NCCN Foundation will function as the philanthropic arm of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network. Among the primary initiatives of the Foundation is gaining "support for the development of the NCCN Patient Guidelines." Currently the NCCN publishes the highly influential Clinical Practice Guidelines in Oncology, which provides cancer treatment guidelines to oncologists. The Foundation will be actively working to create "translations" of those guidelines into text that patients and caregivers can easily understand.
