Girl Finds Cancer While Fake Tanning

"Lymphoma is the most common cancer among people under 30 yet, for many, the first time they hear about it is when they are diagnosed. Clare Hutchinson spoke to student Kathryn Fish, who is currently undergoing treatment for Hodgkin’s lymphoma

KATHRYN FISH is like any other student – she likes to wear nice clothes, party with her friends and get the most out of life.

The only difference is that three months ago, she was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

The 20-year-old from Danescourt, Cardiff, was getting ready for a night out with her housemates in Bristol when she noticed a lump on her neck.

“I remember it was a Thursday night and we were all planning to go out on Friday so we were doing our usual girly routine of fake tanning,” she said.

“It was 11.30pm and I was fake tanning my neck when I found a lump a little smaller than a golf ball just above my collar bone."
