Eggplant Cures Cancer? Maybe Not

Dr. Bill Cham has a new book out called The Eggplant Cancer Cure; his website is EggplantCancerCure.com. According to the web site, "Dr. Cham has found substances which can penetrate and kill skin cancer cells but can’t penetrate normal skin cells, so normal skin cells are untouched and unhurt while the skin cancer cells die!" He claims to have conducted extensive studies on a cream he made (called Curaderm), which contains substances derived from eggplant.

Contrary to popular assumptions about the health benefits of green tea, researchers at the University of Southern California (USC) have found that the widely used supplement renders a cancer drug used to treat multiple myeloma and mantle cell lymphoma completely ineffective in treating cancer.

For many cancer patients, chemotherapy can be worse than cancer itself. A patient may respond to one drug but not another, or the tumor may mutate and stop responding to the drug, resulting in months of wasted time, ineffective treatment and toxic side effects.


New Lymphoma Drug on Horizon

Allos Therapeutics reported that patients with a rare but aggressive form of blood cancer responded to treatment with the company's experimental drug pralatrexate for more than nine months. The result signifies that pralatrexate is having a meaningful benefit for patients, Allos said, and supports the company's effort to get the drug approved in the U.S. later this year. ralatrexate, or perhaps, sell the company outright to a larger drug firm.
