He may still be one of the most polarizing figures in the media and politics, but every year radio host Rush Limbaugh uses his enormous influence to raise money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, and in doing so has been one of the organization's most active and appreciated patrons for several years running.

This year he held his 22nd annual on-air Cure-A-Thon, a three hour program in which he only occasionally discusses blood cancers but encourages donations from his listeners. This year he raised $3.3 million for the LLS, including his own $400,000 donation.

Over the years, Limbaugh's Cure-A-Thon has been a boon for patients suffering from blood cancers as well as the LLS, raising an astonishing $34 million since he first began. The impetus for his involvement with the LLS is unknown.
