The 21st annual Scott Firefighter Stairclimb, the largest such event of its kind, took place on Sunday 11 March 2012 in Seattle, Washington. The fundraiser benefits the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and is one of the more impressive physical feat-fundraisers put on annually.

In doing so, the men and women first don 50 pounds of gear (breathing apparatus and masks included) and race up an astonishing 1,311 stairs beginning at the fifth floor lobby of the Columbia Tower.

They've reached their goal only after ascending 69 stories and 788 vertical feet, arriving at the Tower's observation deck on the 73rd floor.

This year, 1,550 firefighters representing 191 departments in 24 U.S. states, Canada, and Germany participated in the Stairclimb.
