Register as Bone Marrow Donor Today

One month ago, four-year-old Kai Anderson's parents took him to the doctor for what they thought were severe flu like symptoms. A blood test gave them the devastating news that their son has a rare form of leukemia called Philadelphia Chromosome (Positive Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia). Incredibly, his father was diagnosed with (unrelated) cancer last year. Kai is undergoing chemotherapy and needs a bone marrow transplant as soon as possible.

Fortunately, there are several quick and easy ways that YOU CAN HELP. The test to find a match is a simple Q-tip swab to the inside of your cheek. You can take it at one of the drives listed in the Events section below on the right-hand side.

If you can't attend a donor drive, you can order a self test kit that will be sent to you. IT'S FREE and takes 30 seconds. Order here: http://www.dkmsamericas.org/category/bone-marrow-donors/become-marrow-donor/request-kit-mail

Volunteers are currently needed to help with efforts to get as many people as possible to take the simple Q-tip test. If you can volunteer your time towards this effort please email miriam.wermelt@gmail.com

A donation fund has been set up to help with Kai's medical expenses. If you wish to donate and help Kai, please go to http://www.HopeForKai.com and click on the "Donate" button. Any and all donations are GREATLY appreciated.
