Florida woman reaches remission with a positive attitude

Lucy Jamie, 88, of Hollywood Florida, was recently diagnosed in the advanced stages of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL) and has endured four months of chemotherapy. Lucy is not unfamiliar with the effects of cancer. In 1991 she successfully battled lung cancer. Through all of her tribulations she has maintain a positive outlook. "I don't care much for what the year has brought me," she said. "I want [to] and will beat this cancer ... "

"Spending several hours in a lounge chair with intravenous injections of drugs into my arm was not painful! I have the positive attitude that the good cells were attacking the bad cells," she said.

Lucy said she tires easily and has had to curtail swimming 10 laps in her condo's pool every day, and playing Scrabble and Trivial Pursuit with her neighbors. But she has become a fan of television show Dancing With the Stars and thinks there should be a senior's version of the popular television show. She is thinking of taking dance lessons.
