Little Yellow Bracelets

You probably know what I'm talking about, don't you? You may even have worn one. If not, you know someone who has. Simple little $1 yellow plastic bracelts with the word "livestrong" on them.
Catchy, clever and profitable. Those little pieces of plastic brought in 70 million bucks to the cancer organization.
In 1997, cancer survivor and champion cyclist Lance Armstrong founded the Lance Armstrong Foundation in Austin, Texas to fight for the millions of people around the world living with cancer. The organization – now called LIVESTRONG – helps anyone affected by cancer understand what to expect, what questions to ask and provides one-on-one support along the way.
What LIVESTRONG does better than any other cancer organization? Social media. With hundreds of cancer orgs out there competing for dollars and followers, npos (and for that matter, cancer providers) would be well-served to follow their example. For more details, check out this article:
