A youth program called h4O [‘Help to Others’] out of the city of Lakewood, Ohio’s Department Of Human Services has found a clever and resourceful way of raising money for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
On Saturday, March 21st in Lakewood High School’s East Cafeteria between 11am and 2pm, h4O is hosting a Guitar Hero Tournament.
It's the group's second annual tournament. Last year they raised a fantastic $700 and this year they’re gunning for $1,000. If you live in the Lakewood area, are in grades 6-12, and want to test out your GH chops against others for a good cause, download an entry form from their website and register by March 13th.
Cash prizes go to the winners, and admission for spectators is just a dollar. Plus, they'll have a Rock Band station set up that will only cost a dollar to play.
More information is available here.
If you don't live in the area but you're an avid Guitar Hero player, or Rock Band, or any other kind of gamer, use this example to put together your own event to raise money for a good cause. It might be to fund research to find a cure for cancer, or maybe to afford to buy laptop computers for kids with lymphoma who are in treatment in the hospital and missing school work. Every bit helps, and the results are always worth the effort.
