The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) will again be participating in Gap Inc.'s Give & Get program, which in its first two campaigns last past spring and summer, garnered more than $1 million to support LLS's blood cancer research funding and patient education and support services.
During the campaign, taking place from March 18-21, Gap Inc. will issue downloadable 30% discount coupons participants can use (in-store only) at all Gap Inc. stores, which include Gap, Banana Republic and Old Navy. LLS is among several charities to benefit -- the participants can select the charity of their choice, and 5% of their net purchase will go to that charity.
The coupons can be used as many times as you choose to shop during the days of the promotion and can be shared with as many people as you wish. They are good in stores in both the United States and Canada. So in a time when our communities need it most, your shopping counts for more
This offer is also good at Gap Outlet and Banana Republic Factory Store!

If you know of a child with cancer, or you wish to support an organization that cares for those who do, consider Make a Wish Foundation.
You are probably already familiar with it. The Make-A-Wish Foundation is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. The largest wishgranting nonprofit organization in the world was founded in Phoenix, Ariz., in 1980. The Make-A-Wish Foundation has granted the wishes of more than 188,000 children with life-threatening medical conditions nationwide since its inception.
Typically, children’s wishes fall into four categories: To Be (e.g., a zookeeper, a firefighter, a baker), To Meet (e.g., a favorite celebrity or athlete), To Have (e.g., a computer, a playhouse, a puppy), or To Go (e.g., to a theme park, Hawaii, a major sporting event). To qualify for a wish, the child must be older than 2½ years old and younger than 18 (at the time of referral) and must not have received a wish from another wish-granting organization. A child can be referred to the Make-A-Wish Foundation by a parent or guardian, a medical professional, or by the child.
If you have some Kleenex® handy, read stories about wish kids and what their experiences were like when their wishes came true.
Consider how you can support their important work.

It’s the accent.
It’s always the accent.
Maybe it’s residual Beatles love, but damn, I’ve just got a thing for English pop/rock bands. And Cloudbursting is no exception.
I ran across them on Twitter this morning and I was hooked. Then, when I saw that proceeds from their new release “The Obligatory” were going to the Leukaemia / Lymphoma Research Foundation, well – be still my heart. It doesn’t get any better than that.
Well, unless they toured through central Indiana.
Just released on March 8, it’s available by download from 148 websites worldwide including ITunes and Tesco.
The link comes from Andy and Keith losing a loved one to leukemia. The song is actually about overcoming the depression that Andy suffered for over a decade.
But until then, check them out. I totally dig a band who can rock and gives something back. The members:
Andy Shaw - Vocals, Guitar, Piano, Strings, Bass
Keith Hill - Vocals, Guitars, Ukulele
Steve Gannaway - Drums, Bongo's, Vocals
Chris Watson - Bass, Vocals
Check out the band here:

Caregiving is a difficult job - no one doubts that. One of the strategies often suggested for relieving stress is to do something you enjoy. I think what many people forget is that when you've been caregiving for awhile, you may forget what brings you happiness.
Here are some suggestions for when the weeks get long as you can get a few hours' break:
-plant flowers
-listen to music - better yet, sing along
-play an instrument
-draw, create, journal, craft, build
-call a friend
-take a walk
-go bowling, or roller skating - enything but grocery shopping
-dress up and go out to dinner
-go to the stupidest movie you can find
-go to a concert
-Find bad facelift pictures online
-Find silly videos on Youtube
-Twitter your boredom
-Learn the Thriller Dance or make up your own routine
-Write your own biography
and my fave - Eat 6 spoon fulls of sugar, a soda, and another thing that makes you hyper and then you won't be bored anymore, you will end up finding something to do... trust us.
The American Academy of Family Physicians offers these suggestions to help prevent caregiver stress:
Accept that you can't do everything.
Stay organized in your personal life. Set schedules to take care of your personal priorities and responsibilities.
Don't neglect your health. Get regular medical checkups.
Make sure you get enough sleep and regular exercise.
Eat healthy, and don't load up on junk food.
Give yourself a break. Call on friends and family members who are willing to help when needed.

Since the early 1970s, incidence rates for non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma have nearly doubled. Improved diagnosis has contributed greatly to the increase as doctors better understand cancer of lymphocytes and can distinguish it from other diseases.
