My Dad is being two terrible choices...either do nothing and die in less than a year...not knowing where the cancer could go or take a very harsh chemotherapy 3 days in the hospital and 2 1/2 weeks off for 6 treatments over 4 months.
My dad is very active...swims..drives...cooks for himself and has a girlfriend he visits every week. He may not be able to do any of the above and will need 24/7 live in help while going through the chemotherapy. We were told that he may not survive the course of treatment and then again he may be cancer free after the treatment. As far as we know there is no other tumors. the last Pet Scan was done in late March 2009 which showed light around the small bowel..two tumors which were removed one week ago. My Dad is doing well and could be discharged tomorrow. We are being pushed to make a decision. Meanwhile I have begin to do research and found talked with another hemo/oncologist in Tamarac who suggests my dad only have infusion of Retuxin. What is the best way to go..my dad and the family are interested in his quality of life ..not necessarily to cure the cancer but keep it at bay...so he couldhave some more time alive and feeling well.

Since the early 1970s, incidence rates for non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma have nearly doubled. Improved diagnosis has contributed greatly to the increase as doctors better understand cancer of lymphocytes and can distinguish it from other diseases.
