That's too difficult for

That's too difficult for anyone to say from a distance. Have you weighed his condition against the International Prognostic Index? You can read about it HERE and apply your dad's condition if possible.

Did the anticancer therapy have any effect? Meaning the chemo and radiation? Has he had a follow up scan, been restaged?

Ross

After radiation the nodules

After radiation the nodules on the back/side of his head shrunk down to nearly nothing, and a week or so later came back w/ a fury. The Dr.s are saying that there is nothing more they can do. He was scheduled for a port to be put in for a more aggressive chemo treatment last thurs. and that's when they found the problem with his heart and rushed him to another hospital to alleviate the blockage. Yesterday we were told that small clots are causing him to have small strokes and he now has trouble eating and losing strength and weight. It's been a crazy roller-coaster ride for the whole family and it seems that nothing is really being done. So I ask...is there more to be done or should we just throw in the towel? such a catch 22...he needs strength to get well but can not eat. I'll try to get more info today.

Hi I am a Non-hodgkins

Hi I am a Non-hodgkins lymphoma cancer survvivor. I feel like anything is possible and you should never give up hope. I know some survivors who were told to start making arrangements because they would not be here and they are still here years later. I found something that may be helpful to you. I hope it will help. Even at stage 4, 7 survivors tell their stories.. The site is http://www.RecoverFromLymphoma.com//
I hope this will help you and I pray that your Dad will be OK. GodBless!!

Thank you for the ray of

Thank you for the ray of hope. We are struggling now to get him to eat. I have researched on foods that would help his appetite, but w/ his mini strokes , they have put him on a "mush" diet and isn't very appetizing...are there any ideas or suggestions. I do realize that the treatments have played havoc on his taste buds., and being a survivor yourself maybe you can suggest some type of tasty bits.

You are very welcome. Well

You are very welcome. Well for myself when I went for my chemo I did not have a appetite for 2 weeks and then the next week it came back and then it was back to chemo again. My treatments were every 3 weeks. For the mush diet, I would probably put some garlic in like a potatoe mixer to give it some flavor, just a idea not everyone is a fan of garlic. What exactly is he eating if any? Chop the garlic in the blender with the potatoes. Did you try fruit smoothies, like bananas, strawberries, icecream and some yogurt, they can be flavorful and very healthy. He can use the icecream since he lost alot of weight.I hope this helps a bit, let me know please.Be sure to take care of yourself also because you need to stay healthy and strong.GodBless and good luck

he isn't a big garlic fan.

he isn't a big garlic fan. but for some good news , he is going to be released from the hospital in the next couple of days and is being placed in a rehab center to strengthen his left side which was affected by his heart and mini strokes. He'll be closer to home and maybe they will have a more appetizing menu. If not he'll be close enough so that if I were to bring some food to him it would still be hot. Alll he seems to want now is to see his gardens and he keeps telling the docs that he isn't too proud to crawl in the dirt so that he can plant/weed. We did get him outside wed. and he enjoyed the sun for 15 min. I will try to get more Medical info for you all so that answers to his next steps could be answered. Thanks again and ttyl

Dad is in a nursing home and

Dad is in a nursing home and some of us aren't happy about it. They will be doing 3+ hrs of physical rehab and speech therapy daily sooooo....we're giving them til Wed. and then we're going to kidnap him and bring him home!...He does seem to be getting a tiny bit better every day...I really just want him to gain some pounds. I'm going to experiment w/ some shakes...He does not like Ensure or any other power drinks. How about some strawberries, bananas, buttermilk and a touch of brown sugar and wheat germ? I'll have to make it for breakfast and taste test it...I'll tell you how it goes. Ross I did finally get the IPI, thank you., celeste
