PCBs are linked to NHL. I need a specific link to T cell, anaplastic, large cell lymphoma. My husbands PCBs were phenomenal when his tests were done. I had research that seemed to back this up, and his doctor said PCBs. I need T-cell evidence. Help

An attorney that was representing our family, said evidence supports b cell, and I know differently, but no longer have the research documents. Does anyone have the link or information I need? I know they also affect the immune system in general, and that is what lymphoma is, basicall an extension of a failing and genetically altered immune system. I can not place his expposure to any workplace, and it seems it is from contaminated fish and game around the area. I asked the question above and am expounding on it in this comment area.
But if you're hoping to bring a lawsuit in court that alleges some malfeasance on the part of a company for causing cancer in a family member, you surely know what you're up against: In almost any country, this is virtually impossible. Not merely because of endless litigation, but because it is simply so extremely hard- if not generally impossible- to say what exposure caused which cancer in which person. In the US, think of the decades and decades of battles over tobacco, asbestos, benzene, or vinyl chloride. And chemical companies have a clever way of casting doubt on any epidemiological study you can uncover, in part by hiring big guns who are highly respected in the cancer field. Think of Sir Richard Doll, one of the most esteemed cancer crusaders of the 20th century- when he died, we learned that he'd been receiving payments from Monsanto, the asbestos industry, and Dow Chemical. It's an insidious world, full of experts with two faces. I wish you luck.

Thank you so much, Ross. I have a good idea what I'm up against. I am going after ALCOA, and they have deep pockets. My husband's blood was checked for PCB cogeners. They dumped PCB's into a lake where we lived off of the fish in our younger, poorer years. The cogeners they dumped exactly match the ones found in his blood in high levels. I also have a statement from the lab at Harvard that gave us the results. We were part of a lawsuit against Monsanto, filed by a lawyer in Texas, but we were booted out because of a "law of repose" here in the state of NC, that prevents us from suing any chemical manufacturer for damages caused more than ten years after exposure. My husband has, since, passed away. Thank you again for your assistance. I will remember it. Helen Hammonds
Helen-
I'm sorry to read you were kicked out of a class action suit in Texas. When it comes to environmental carcinogens, I always refer people to the Environmental Health Trust because I think it's a great place to find resources and read more about carcinogens at work, in our water, in the soil, everywhere.

Since the early 1970s, incidence rates for non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma have nearly doubled. Improved diagnosis has contributed greatly to the increase as doctors better understand cancer of lymphocytes and can distinguish it from other diseases.

Perhaps this Swedish study (in PDF form), Some Aspects of the Etiology of Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma may help. Or this Brazilian one, Environmental exposures and gene regulation in disease etiology.
