My boyfriend is in the late stages of hodgkins lymphoma and is not seeking treatment. I have beared witness to all the symptoms. His stomach and left side muscles are now having spasms. What stage is he in and what should I expect next?

I went thru hodgkins 3 years

I went thru hodgkins 3 years ago. I had stage 3 because all my lymph glands were bad, from my neck to my groin. My lymph's on my side were so huge I could not lay down flat. Could not walk up a flight of stairs without being totaly winded. I don't know how else to say this but get him to a oncologist. ASAP. Hodgkins is VERY treatable. I took to the chemo (ABVD) quite well, thou some don't. Again, GET HIM TO DOCTOR. It is just dumb to let a treatable cancer kill someone. In answer to you question, what should you expect next...DEATH.

Hello Meredith, Sorry to

Hello Meredith, Sorry to hear that your boyfriend has Hodgkin's. You don't mention whether or not he has had previous treatment and if so what the results were, or what his stage was when diagnosed. That can make all the difference. I am stage IVb+e, have had AVBD, ICE, and SCT and failed all of them. I have never been in remission and am considered as "refractory". I am hoping to get into the SGN35 trial, but am going to start GND chemo in the mean time. GND is not really hard on the body, at least I have been told it's easier than AVBD. GND is not a "cure" but can often bring remission for short periods. If your boyfriend does not want further treatment I would suggest you see about hospice care. It can be done either in home or at a medical facility and they will provide support for both of you.
