Tony- I can't find a causal
Tony-
I can't find a causal relationship discussed anywhere concerning bartonella and b-cell lymphoma. At most it appears that they sometimes have similar generalized symptoms and initial diagnosis based on an exam might mistake one for the other, but blood tests can rule in or out any bartonella infection. Plus I don't see how any of its associated diseases, like catscratch, are considered auto-immune disorders, which are often linked to lymphomas. That said, there are other bacterial infections that have been convincingly linked to certain lymphomas, so there may some day be evidence of this with bartonella.
The same can't be said about Lyme disease. The causitive agent of lyme disease is a pathogen named Borrelia burgdorferi, and according to a number of reports, it has been linked to primary cutaneous B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphomas for several years, although I'm finding that this has been the case in Europe only, not in North America. The explanation for this is that maybe there are subspecies of B. burgdorferi that can cause these skin lymphomas and others that can not.
