depending on where you are staged, radiation may not be part of your treatment. Generally the higher the stage, the less likely the radiation.

As for the pain in your abdomen; hodgkin's often presents with a mass or tumor in the abdomen or lungs, that could be causing it. It seems really unlikely that the PET scan caused the pain, but not altogether impossible.

how were you diagnosed? did you have symptoms? or did you spot a swollen lymph node, what happened?

Hi Ross, I spotted a

Hi Ross,
I spotted a large lymph node in my neck I had a biopsy done which I was told I have hodgkins lymphoma. I saw my doctor today after doing the bone marrow and pet/ct scans & I was diagnosed with stage 2 hodgkins lymphoma. I start chemo in 3weeks I do it over a 4 month period then I do radiation. The abdomen pain turns out to be stones in my gall bladder it showed up in the PET/CT SCAN & everything else looks good..

BRINGITON !!

Bringiton: So they said you

Bringiton:
So they said you were stage II, did they happen to mention if you were stage IIA or IIB? IIB means that you've had so-called systemic or B symptoms ... night sweats, fevers, chills, things like that. If you haven't had any of those kinds of symptoms than you're likely IIA, which is preferable. But even if you're IIB, the success rate for Hodgkin's is extraordinarily high.

As for those gallstones, what are they gonna do about those?

Good luck, and check out the Hodgkin's support pages over at supportgroups.com for questions you might have, or answers for others, or just a place to bitch about cancer ...

Thankyou Ross ! I

Thankyou Ross !
I have never asked about it I will ask my doc the next time I see him but I think I'm 11B & for the gallstones they are going to remove it. For a place to Bitch yes it will be.
thankyou !!
BRING IT ON !!!

I think it's common for

I think it's common for cancer patients to feel like they have to make other people feel better about them having cancer, which is ridiculous. I wrote a blog on this web site about the subject, which is HERE, and I also recommend you read the New York Times article listed at the bottom of the blog, entitled 'When Thumbs Up is No Comfort'. It's a good reminder that it's not your responsibility to make others feel better about you having cancer, you're entitled to feel however you want- upbeat, angry, whatever works best for you.
