Lymphoplasmacytic lymphoma,
Lymphoplasmacytic lymphoma, which goes by the initials LPL, is a small B-cell lymphoma that attacks the plasma cells (which are white blood cells) in the body. It's characterized by a thickening of the blood, and is sometimes called Waldenström's macroglobulinemia, or WM. It's a slow-growing, or "indolent" cancer that generally affects people in their 50s and 60s.
