lymph node biospy shows a malignant lymphoma pattern, with a differential including large cell lymphoma and Hodkgin lymphoma. Reed-Sternberg cells are not found. is it a Hodkgin's lymphoma?

Maybe, maybe not. This may

Maybe, maybe not. This may just be an issue of semantics. Normally Reed-Sternberg cells would be the hallmark of HL, and in 95 % of HL cases they indeed are. However, in lymphocyte predominant HL (a far less common subtype of HL) the 'tumor cells' are called LP cells, so a pathology report that says no RS cells are present doesn't exclude the possibility that it's Hodgkin's. Does that make sense?

thanks for your response.
