That's not entirely true on WBC. One general, non-specific symptom of lymphoma is known as leukocytosis, or an increase in WBC of any kind. Naturally an increase can signify a range of things (thus is non-specific). However, keep in mind that speaking very broadly, lymphoma is characterized by proliferation of lymphocytes that for whatever reason are not dying, rather they are proliferating and building up in the lymph nodes or elsewhere. Instead of undergoing apoptosis, they have mutated to resist cell death.
