Can Low WBC counts be a result of CHOP treatment?

I am cancer free 8 years now.

I am cancer free 8 years now. I had NHL and recieved 8 treatments of CHOP. Could this have led to my low white blood cell counts (1800)?

Leukopenia, or a decreased

Leukopenia, or a decreased WBC count, can be caused by literally dozens of things. Chemotherapy of course could have caused it when you were receiving CHOP, but eight years after the fact? I would ask your doctor or hematologist.

Ross, thanks for the reply.

Ross, thanks for the reply. My WBC has always been lower than normal just after the treatments. It has however slowly declined to the point that it is now. My oncologist is scratching his head on this one, at first he said it was the chemo that did it. He changes his theory almost every visit.

He changes his theory at

He changes his theory at almost every visit, that's not exactly what you want to hear. I mean it's nice that he's open-minded, but maybe it's time to see a hematologist. Check out the American Society of Hematology's find a hematologist section (assuming you're in the states).

I forgot to mention that he

I forgot to mention that he is also a Doctor of Hematology. He's the best in the state I live in and surrounding states. It's just not that simple, too many variables are in the mix. He is a top notch Doc, and I give him the benefit of the doubt.

I was just wondering if the CHOP could have led to the lowered WBC count. Seems like no one has the definitive answer, so I am moving along.
