News outlets in Ottawa, Canada are warning residents of a white male, believed to be in his 40s, who is canvassing neighborhoods and collecting money he says is for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society said they neither have a door-to-door campaign going on currently, nor do they have such a campaign planned in the future.

Suspect solicits residents by falsely representing himself

The suspect has been knocking on Ottawa doors representing himself as a police officer, a firefighter, or a paramedic. He gives residents pamphlets and brochures about the LLS and then asks for cash donations.

Police are urging anyone with information to call police at 13-236-1222, ext.7300 or anonymously call Crime Stoppers at 613-233-8477 (613-233-TIPS).
