help needed

Hello, I'm Yvonne from Beijing, China.
My father is diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin, Cell-B Lymphoma, stage I/II.(age:47) He's been through the first Chemo therapy and the cancer's gone (for now).
But I'm still very worried because his doctor said that the cancer could come back sooner or later. It's just a matter of time. And my mother (as a doctor herself, but not an oncologist) believes that he has 5 years at top...
I've been searching the internet for related information but it varies a lot.
So I'm wondering if anybody could tell me, is Malignant Lymphoma really incurable? How long is the average survival?
Thank you very much.

i understand that the

i understand that the survival rate is much better than before i here people can survive with ongoing treatment for 10-20 years as long as they continue to fight and keep up with the Dr appt and stay dilagent your dad should be ok. Best of luck to you will pray for him every day.

Yvonne, your father's

Yvonne, your father's prognosis depends on a number of factors but the fact that it is early stage is a good thing. There are at least 15 different NHLs that are classed as B cell. If his is classed as aggressive then chemo can be very effective in achieving long term remission, based on the research I have done. If his cancer is classed as indolent, then the prognosis is a bit worse (that is the kind I have) as chemo is not as effective on the slower growing cancer cells. The good news there is that many people live for a long, long time with indolent NHL. The bad news is that it does tend to return and require additional treatment and is still classed as incurable. The better news is that research seems to be improving our odds every day, which is what I am counting on since mine is proving somewhat resistant to treatment. Good luck to your Dad and to everyone dealing with this disease.
