I am new here and I have a 13 year old girl that was diagnosed with non-hodgkins lymphoma 2 days ago. So I am realy new to all of this right now. We leave for Denver, Colorado tomorrow to start her treatments. All of us realy scared right now.
So sorry to hear your daughter has Lymphoma, I'm 46 and was just diagnosed with Burkitts Lymphoma. So if she was diagnosed 2 days ago then they have the final Pathology report that says exactly what type of Lymphoma? They gave me CHEMO before the final Path Report and it turns out it wasn't strong enough and I start again Monday after only A WEEK. They will porbably take Bone Marrow, Hopefully your daughters bones are softer than mine and she won't have much pain. Maybe they can give her a pain pill before Bone marrow extraction to ease the pain some, plus the local. Ask that they use Radiology if doing a Lunbar punture also, so they can get right the first time, they tried 5 times on me and still didn't get it and now my back is all messed up. Maybe it's easier with younger people. Hopefully all goes well in Denver, might I also suggest you call Fred Hutchinson Cancer treament Center In Seattle. They will work with any oncologist to help with the treatment plan. You can email me direct at Jeff_R_@hotmail.com if you would like.
Hi Tink Sorry to hear about your daughter. What kind of cancer does she have since NHL can take the form of 32 different types? I am sure they must have identified and staged your daughter before they start treatment? Keep the faith and I am sure things will work out for you and her.

Since the early 1970s, incidence rates for non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma have nearly doubled. Improved diagnosis has contributed greatly to the increase as doctors better understand cancer of lymphocytes and can distinguish it from other diseases.
