Confused please help

Hello. My spouse has had abdominal and leg edema for about 2 mos getting worse in the last few weeks. A 'lump' emerged under her left breast. Our family doc sent us for CTs of the chest, abdomin and pelvis (all with contrast). I drove and picked up the report.

The findings stated medistinal and hilar lymphadenopathy stating "Worrisome for lymphoma". The abdominal Ct stated "Mildly prominent mesenteric lymph nodes and said that "in patient with mediastinal and pelvic lymphadenopathy, lymphoma cannot be excluded."

Same was said for the pelvic CT.

Here is my concern. The nurse practitioner called today with the results. She said she did not see the report but was told by the doc that 'he was unimpressed with the results' and if we "wanted" to we could get a biopsy but it could wait a few weeks.

May I say my wife has no insurance. I am retired disabled and am on medicare. She is not.

I may not be a doctor but am I wrong to be VERY concerned that SOMETHING be done and looked into ASAP. It just seems to me that if one doctor writes a report of "worrisome for lymphoma' and "findings cannot exclude lymphoma" and her symptoms for the last 1-2 mos are there (extreme fatigue, abdominal and leg/ankle swelling, pain in side, raised bump/lump about the size of my thumb under right breast) that I should push the issue and get something going somewhere. I don't know where to go for treatment or for further diagnosis for her. As I said I am retired disabled and she has no insurance. We are both 54. I feel like I just can't wake up from this nightmare and am not sure if I am over-reacting or if this doc is just being 'too laid back' due to the fact that she is uninsured.

Thank you in advance for the thoughts on this matter,
Lightdancer7

Since the early 1970s, incidence rates for non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma have nearly doubled. Improved diagnosis has contributed greatly to the increase as doctors better understand cancer of lymphocytes and can distinguish it from other diseases.
