No change - halfway through ABVD

My husband is going through chemo right now. He has gone through 6 treatments and has 6 more to go. After a scan there has been no decrease at all in mass. The doctor wants to do 2 more and then increase the dosage.

Is increasing the dosage normal?
Are there alternatives?
Should I be looking for other doctors?

Keyra,

My husband also received ABVD as his first chemotherapy. He was on it for four months, before his doctor decided to switch to a different drug combination. I would say that if you are concerned, talk to his doctor or start asking others. My husband's oncologist did not increase the dosage for him, but switched to another cocktail of drugs entirely. Not sure if this is typical or not, but I do believe that you should follow your gut instinct.

Best wishes to you and your husband,
Shana

Since the early 1970s, incidence rates for non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma have nearly doubled. Improved diagnosis has contributed greatly to the increase as doctors better understand cancer of lymphocytes and can distinguish it from other diseases.
