Do I need vaccinations?

I have just finished getting treated with chemo and my doctor said that I do not need to get vaccinated again. I guess I should be listening but I am a true worry wart:) I have read that patients, after treatment for NHL, have had to get all of their childhood vaccinations again. Is that true? Is it better to be safe than sorry?
