Updating Friends/Family Members

I have found that one "job" a close friend or family member can take on is to update others. In my experience, people want to know what's going on with the patient, how they are doing, what they can do, etc.

I found a website, www.caringbridge.org, that allows friends or family members to start a "website" where you can explain the patient's "story" along with regular journal updates. There is also a guestbook where visitors can leave notes for the patient and their family.

I have found it to be extremely helpful, allowing me to update everyone at once, instead of explaining things over and over again... and allowing us to feel supported on a regular basis by the comments made by our friends and family. Hope you may find it helpful too.

Thanks for the information. I am not sure if the people who run this website have thought about it but it would be nice for us to be able to journal or blog here as well. I am new to all of this but would love to share my thoughts as I move along my journey.
