Using a PET Scan to Differentiate Between Indolent and Aggressive NHL

Researchers at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York report in a new study that lower fluorodeoxyglucose uptake on PET imaging differentiates indolent from aggressive non-Hodgkin lymphoma. Fluorodeoxyglucose uptake was significantly higher in aggressive disease than all indolent lymphomas.

This gives doctors a new tool to stage patients and craft proper treatment protocols.
